Electrokite Review

We had the privilege of reviewing some of Electrokite's apps for kids!
We played The Alphabet Game Deluxe!

It has lots of items to press and hear the words for each letter to reinforce the beginning letter sounds.

There is also a Trace section where the child can pick a colour and practise writing the letters.  Hit the lever and the letter changes to a new one to practise!

This section practises the beginning sound of the picture shown.  Press on the letter the word starts.

A little robot swings down to let the child know to try again or they got it right!

The Play section allows the child to draw something that the letter shown, starts with!
Just press the circle letter to get a new letter!

Here, Butterfly drew a tree for the letter T.  I love how they allow different colours at the side for the child to pick!

Here, Butterfly drew a hat for the Letter H.  :)

And this is an Octopus for Letter O.  :)

They even have a Worksheet Link! Love it!

Another app we played with by Electrokite is Trace Letters.

This one is great to practise letter printing.

By pressing "See it!" they show the child the right way to write the letter, then the child tries it on their own by following the dotted lines.

This is the Left and Right app.  It gives a tip that when you hold your hands up, the side that makes a proper L is the left hand.

It has activities asking the child to put something in the left or right side.

For instance, put the coin in the right piggy bank.

Press the Robot and he tells you the instruction.

Put a scoop of icecream on the cone that's on the right.

They have a great Left and Right action song to learn to as well!

Electrokite has a lot of great learning apps!  Butterfly likes to play these in the grocery cart while I grocery shop, it makes my shopping task easier when she's busy learning!

An Introduction To Time

Our homeschool group spent some time learning about Time, just introducing the concept of a clock to our kindergartners.

This paper plate idea is a great craft and learning tool.

We refreshed the kids on a basic counting by fives activity as this concept is needed for telling time with the minute hand.

We got out our teaching clocks and taught the hours and half hours only at this point, and we showed them that the hour hand is shorter and the minute hand is longer and how they work. We talked about how a clock works and touched on "clockwise" the direction the hands move in and the term "counterclockwise".

We also have this awesome From Time To Time game from Discovery Toys.
This is a great tool for teaching time!

There's a wipe-off side to the clock for drawing on the time, learning the time in digital and clock format cards, they basically cover it all in this set!

On How To Run A Homedaycare site, she crafted a giant floor clock for her kids to really learn how a clock works and feels with their whole body! Great activity ideas there.

Here's another great paper plate time idea I found on Pinterest when crafting your own learning clock tool:

Pinterest's Hostess Ideas

I love Pinterest!
So when I was having the girls over, I referred to my pins for some new hostess serving ideas!

This was the first time I ever made cheesecake and it was successful and a big hit!

Neat tip idea when wanting to flatten down the graham cracker crumbs, press a cup down inside each muffin cup!

Lots of cream cheese!

plus pureed raspberries!

I dripped in drops of raspberry on top of the cream cheese,

and made swirls with a kabob stick.

They come out puffy on top, but when they cool, it settles.

Use some zebra print cupcake liners for a dash of lady fancy!

I made a tray full of fruit kabobs! easy peasy!

And then I got this lovely idea for our wine glasses from Pinterest as well, frozen grapes for ice cubes!

What a fun delicious girls' nights we had!
We can all use new hostess ideas as December is the time for many get togethers! :)
