Friday's Art Class

In our Art Class we learned about the ancient Greek clay pots.  Butterfly and her friends studied the pictures and images on the clay pot pictures, learning that these pictures tell stories of history.

The kids got their own clay pots and paints.  Butterfly started right away in decorating her pot.

I noticed she used a lot of black dots to design her pot, a colour she hardly chooses in her art (she likes a lot of colours), so I knew she was really thinking about the ancient Greek pots they were studying as they show a lot of black on their pots.

Next they were given salt dough clay.  Butterfly had the opportunity to shape her own pot.

She then filled her pot with "eggs" because it looked like a nest.  :)  hehe.

When this clay hardened later at home, she enjoyed painting her masterpiece!

Looking at history and different cultures to learn new kinds of art is a wonderful lesson in so many learning areas!
