Button Board

We have a new activity!  It's a quiet activity that we keep with our books for quiet time.

I pinned a Button Board idea and thought I'd make one for Butterfly to use.  It's great for fine motor finger strengthening skills and to learn more of the buttoning skills for clothing practice, plus it reviews the basic shapes.

First, I took one big piece of felt and sewed large buttons from our button craft collection, spreading them out on the felt.

Then I took an old puzzle box and hot glued the big piece of felt with the attached buttons, on to the top lid.

I cut coloured felt shapes with a button slit in the middle for attaching on the button box.

Here's Butterfly diligently working away at it.

Awesome part: Open the box to store the felt shapes inside!

Butterfly goes a step further with her creativity and gets her pile of yarn that I let her play with.  She starts to wrap the yarn around the buttons like a geo board and says, "I'm busy sewing now Mommy."  :)
