Fall Fun!

Fall is in the air here in Canada!
Here are the Autumn projects Butterfly has been working on!

Check out this pastel picture that Butterfly worked on in her Art Book!

I printed out these leaf cut outs on card paper and cut them out, then we used some painter's tape and Butterfly arranged them on her page.

We picked out Fall coloured pastels,

and coloured out around the edges of the leaves.

Then with a finger, Buttefly smudged the pastel colours out!

Which looks like this...

Then remove the leaf!

Getting a picture like this!

We didn't want to waste the leaf cut-outs that now have pastel colours on them, so we turned to a new page in Butterfly's Art Book and she drew her own tree in brown marker,

and glued her leaf cut-outs on it!

Another art project we did, was a tissue leaf tree.  I cut out a brown tree for Butterfly, she glued it down on top of another paper.  I brought out square-cut tissue papers in Fall leaf colours.

Butterfly scrunched the tissue squares to make leaves and glued them down on her tree.

Which makes a beautiful Autumn tree!
All those Fall leaves look like they're dancing in the wind!

Another art project, we squirted Fall coloured paints in a tray, and Butterfly drew a forest of trees on a glossy finger paint sheet of paper.

She then dipped her finger tips in the paint and printed finger tip leaves on top of the tree branches and on the forest floor.

Leaves falling down...

Another Autumn Beauty!

I found these great Fall mazes and fun activity sheets from Busy Bee Kids Printables.

Books are always important in whatever theme we are learning, here are the Fall books Butterfly and I have been enjoying together:

Happy Fall! :)

Muffin Tin Monday!

Butterfly had a tin meal over the weekend.
Cabbage rolls, Milk, Cheese bread cut into a heart, cucumbers cut into little hearts, a cup of raspberries, and a big watermelon piece cut into a heart as well.

Butterfly said, "Did you make hearts for me Mommy because you looooove me?"
Ding Ding Ding Ding!  Right answer my daughter! :))

Apples!!

Apple Season is here!  We've been busy with some fun apple activities!

This first activity, we got all our supplies ready for Apple Printing!

I cut the apples in half and cut out wedges on top of them to make some sort of handle to be able to pull them out of the paint trays.

Butterfly went nuts printing apple shapes with real apples in apple colours!

When this masterpiece was dry, we used this as wrapping paper to wrap a friend's birthday gift!

We also made an apple tree.  Butterfly's hand and arm cut out is the tree trunk and then I traced her foot and cut out numerous foot prints to use as the leafy tree.

Butterfly glued on red pom poms for the apples!  This one's on the wall in our school room- love it!

This is an apple counting activity!

The idea came from here.
Butterfly used her thumbprints dipped in red paint to put the right number of apples in each numbered box.  After we added stems and leaves with a black pen.

The books we have been reading are Ten Apples Up On Top, The Giving Tree, I Am An Apple, and Apple Picking.

I made a cute little apple snack for Butterfly.

I got this idea from here and added my own flair!

A peeled and cored apple cut across, with peanut butter and raisins in between and cinnamon sprinkled all over! Along with some honey sticks standing up in the middle of the apple!

Butterfly has been enjoying our felt board, the following are the songs and rhymes we sing together with our homemade apple felt set.

APPLES OFF MY TREE
(To the tune of "Skip to My Lou")

Pick some apples off my tree,
Pick some apples off my tree,
Pick some apples off my tree,
Pick them all for you and me.

APPLE TREE

Way up high in the apple tree
Five red apples smiled at me
I shook that tree as hard as I could
Down came an apple and
Mmmm, it was good!

Way up high in the apple tree
Four red apples smiled at me...
(keep going counting down each apple)

APPLE TREE

This is the tree
With leaves so green.
(make leaves with fingers outstretched)
Here are the apples
That hang in between.
(make fist)
When the wind blows
(blow)
The apples will fall,
(falling motion with hand)
Here is the basket to gather them all.
(use arms to form basket)

I'M A LITTLE APPLE
(To the tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little apple, short and round,
I make a munchy, crunchy sound,
If you bite into me you will see -
I'm delicious as can be!

APPLESAUCE
(To the tune of Yankee Doodle)

Peel an apple,
Cut it up,
Cook it in a pot.
When you taste it
You will find
It's applesauce you've got!

APPLE PIE

The first apple in the basket
was bright and shiny red.
The second apple in the basket
said,"What a cozy bed!"
The third apple in the basket
said,"Please move over there."
The fourth apple in the basket
said,Now we are two pair."
The fifth apple in the basket,
said,"Oh dear, me-oh-my!"
"This basket looks like pastry,"
"I think we're apple pie!"

To top off Apple Season, apple picking in an apple orchard has become an annual family event for us!

And then apple baking comes next!  Mmmm, apple crisp, apple cookies, apple muffins, apple pies, homemade apple sauce!  It will smell like Autumn in my kitchen! :)
