Our Pond Adventures!

While learning about Ponds this week, Butterfly and I decided to have a couple of Pond Adventures, to explore the real thing!  We thought we'd share some of our photos!

This pond was covered in tiny little lilly pads.

Butterfly's friend scooped up some pond water in our bug jar so we can have a closer look at all the tiny lilly pads!

A bucket full of lilly pads!

Then we met a family of Wood Ducks!

These are the ducklings that have to jump from very high heights, as their nests are in trees, the day after they are born!

On this same Pond Adventure, we saw a Black Crowned Night Heron fly into a tree (couldn't get a close enough photo of it, but click on link to see it.)  It's a short heron with a short neck but with an amazing wing span!  The white and dark colours on the bird, sitting in the tree, looking short and stocky, reminded us of a penguin, so he became our "penguin in the tree"!  It was amazing to find him and watch him!

On another Pond trip, we found this friend...

Butterfly's Daddy loves turtles!

Butterfly wanted to decorate her new turtle friend with a Daisy!

Our dog was so curious to meet Mister Turtle as well.

Our dog following the turtle!

Ponds are fun to explore, you never know what you're going to find!  And it's a rather peaceful field trip!  We definitely love discovering Nature!
